ARA-290

Erythropoietin-Derived Peptide - Erythropoietin-derived peptide studied for neural repair.

ARA-290 (Cibinetide) is a synthetic peptide derived from the tertiary structure of erythropoietin, studied for its interaction with the innate repair receptor in neuropathic and inflammatory research.

ARA-290 is unusual among the catalog in having advanced into human clinical study, where it was investigated for neuropathic and inflammatory endpoints via the tissue-protective receptor. Its design deliberately separates that repair signaling from erythropoiesis, which is what distinguishes it from erythropoietin itself.

Background

ARA-290 (cibinetide) is an 11-residue peptide designed from the helix B region of erythropoietin's three-dimensional structure. It was built to keep the tissue-protective signaling of erythropoietin without the effect on red-cell production (Brines et al., 2008). That signaling is attributed to the innate repair receptor, a complex of the erythropoietin receptor and the common beta receptor (CD131) (Brines and Cerami, 2012). ARA-290 has also been examined in published clinical studies in type 2 diabetes with neuropathic symptoms and in sarcoidosis-associated small-fiber loss (Brines et al., 2015; Culver et al., 2017). Those are third-party publications; Aspect Peptides supplies the compound for in-vitro laboratory research only.

What the Aspect certificates show

There are 3 certificate records for the 10mg vial, all from Freedom Diagnostics, dated 10 December 2025 to 3 October 2026. Reported HPLC purity runs from 99.77% to 99.89%. Identity is confirmed by LC-MS/MS, and the appearance is reported as white lyophilized powder. Each full report is available as a PDF on this page and in the COA library.

How it differs from related compounds

Erythropoietin itself is a large glycoprotein; ARA-290 is an 11-residue peptide (molecular weight about 1,257), so it is characterized like a synthetic peptide with a defined mass rather than by potency units. Among the repair-research compounds, BPC-157 and TB-500 are studied through growth-factor and actin-regulation pathways, whereas ARA-290 is studied through the innate repair receptor.

ARA-290 frequently asked questions

What is ARA-290 (Cibinetide)?

ARA-290, also called Cibinetide, is an 11-amino-acid peptide derived from erythropoietin, studied for its interaction with the innate repair receptor in neuropathic and inflammatory research.

Is ARA-290 an approved drug?

No. It has been studied in clinical trials but has no marketing approval. It is supplied here for in-vitro laboratory research only.

How does it differ from EPO?

It engages the tissue-protective receptor pathway of erythropoietin without stimulating red-blood-cell production, which is the focus of much of its research interest.
